1.
*Beautify your tongues, O people, with truthfulness, and adorn your souls with the ornament of honesty. **Let your eye be chaste, your hand faithful, your tongue truthful and your heart enlightened. O Bahá'u'lláh! Deepen my heart! Awaken my soul! Raise my spirit! Bahá'u'lláh!
2.
I loved thy creation, hence I created thee. Wherefore, do thou love Me, that I may name thy name and fill thy soul with the spirit of life.
3.
O Lord! I'm your child. O Lord! I'm your child. I'm down here working in your vineyard. Can't do nothing till you come. I believe. Yes, I believe that Jesus, He died for me. And with the coming of Bahá'u'lláh, all mankind will be set free.
4.
Breathe Not 02:42
Breathe not the sins of others so long as thou art thyself a sinner.
5.
O Son of Light! Forget all save Me and commune with My spirit. This is of the essence of My command, therefore turn unto it.
6.
When the victory arriveth, every man shall profess himself as believer and shall hasten to the shelter of God's Faith.
7.
O Son of Spirit! My first counsel is this: Possess a pure, kindly and radiant heart, that thine may be a sovereignty ancient, imperishable and everlasting.
8.
To Assist Me 03:40
Say: To assist Me is to teach My Cause. This is a theme with which whole Tablets are laden. This is the changeless commandment of God, eternal in the past, eternal in the future.
9.
Soon will all that dwell on earth be enlisted under these banners. Yá-Bahá'u'l-Abhá. Bahá'u'lláh, cited in God Passes By, p. 184
10.
Strike Up 04:56
Strike up such a melody and tune as to cause the nightingales of divine mysteries to be filled with joy and ecstasy.
11.
O Lord my God [O Lord my God] Open Thou the door [Open Thou the door] Prepare the means [Prepare the means] Make safe the path [Make safe the path] And guide our way [And guide our way] For verily Thou art [For verily Thou art] The Help in Peril [The Help in Peril] The Self-Subsisting [The Self-Subsisting] Yá-Bahá'u'lláh-Abhá [Yá-Bahá'u'lláh-Abhá]

about

ABOUT:

Listen to this beautiful and soul-stirring collection of devotional songs that were sung and played by a group of friends (mostly youth) in Atlanta, GA, who have been studying the Writings of the Baha'i Faith (www.bahai.org) through the Ruhi Institute process over the past several years. Because these songs were created from the intention to memorize the Writings and worship with friends and family, it is more accurate to not think of this material as an album or a "CD," but rather a snapshot, in the form of a recording, of what has been happening in some devotional gatherings throughout communities in the Carolinas and Georgia. You are free to download, duplicate and distribute these songs.

Although these songs were recorded in 2010, many of them were created up to two and three years before. “O Lord my God,” “Soon will all that dwell on earth” and “O Lord I'm Your child” have circulated throughout devotional gatherings previously and were not set to music during these courses. However, they are sung regularly in devotional gatherings in the South. When you download the collection, you'll find a written personal reflection regarding the circumstances that led to the creation of so many of these songs, all starting from a junior youth group.

Dozens of people contributed to these songs that it would be challenging to list them all. Nevertheless, the spirit within which these songs were either created or sung was that of love, generosity, and detachment. The songs don't necessarily belong to anyone besides perhaps the ones mentioned above: “O Lord my God,” “Soon will all that dwell on earth” and “O Lord I'm Your child.”

Recorded and mixed by Carlos Serrano
Assisted by Nathan Shepherd & Oak Ritchie

Recorded at Joanna Wooster's living room in Atlanta, Ga in the Spring of 2010.

Strike Up A Melody Hemingway, South Carolina

Strike Up A Melody is not a company, record label, band, or the like. It is simply a website to easily distribute songs that have come from Baha'i activities in the South East region of the United States. The nature of the songs is such that they don't necessarily belong to one particular person or group, since many people work on them with a detached spirit. Enjoy and please share with others! ... more
